Mac OS X (http://developer.apple.com/macosx) combines the ease of use of the Macintosh with a state of the art OS foundations. Mac OS X includes an advanced Imaging and Signal Processing support. The Vector & Numerics team (http://developer.apple.com/hardwaredrivers/ve/index.html) is tasked with designing, enhancing and improving this imaging and signal processing support. The group is looking for an exceptional high performance vector programmer to complement the team, and make a difference. The successful candidate will have excellent understanding and working knowledge of vector processor architecture, specifically SSE of IA-32 and ARM, hand tuning of audio, image and signal processing kernels and encryption algorithms along with a track record of delivering work on specified deadlines. Vector and optimization programming experience is a must for this position. Track record of writing the fastest possible code using SSE/SSE2/SSE3/SSSE3/SSE4 or PowerPC AltiVec is essential.Working knowledge of the IEEE-754 Numerics standard would be very beneficial.Responsibilities • Design and implement vectorized Audio, Image and Signal processing leaf routines.• Design and implement vectorized encryption algorithms.• Contribute to the design and implementation of the imaging and signal substructure.• Performance analysis and optimization using established methods.• Working with cross functional teams in encryption, audio, image and video related components.Skills, Education and Experience Required • Detailed knowledge of vector Instruction Set Architectures (ISA) of Intel and ARM,• Strong code optimization background making direct use of a processor ISA.• PhD or MS in Computer science or equivalent experience.• Highly professional, with the ability of on time delivery of solid work on tight schedules.• Demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.• Self motivated, independent and pro-active.
