Engineering Manager
As a junior engineering manager you will be joining the team that builds Lombardi’s award-winning products and help hire, manage, grow and retain a team of elite software and test engineers. Engineering managers at Lombardi are responsible for and lead cross functional initiatives and teams to achieve market innovation and customer success. We are looking for a highly technical professional who has a mix of strong background in software engineering, testing, and test automation to drive the overall planning, execution, tracking, and delivery of engineering projects.
The first several projects will focus on test engineering management and will feature close collaboration with a senior engineering manager. Over time, the person in this role is expected to lead and manage a broad spectrum of engineering projects with a diverse group of resources and minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
Do “whatever it takes” to ship Lombardi's software with a high degree of quality, including: Help hire, manage, grow and retain a team of software and test engineers Own the testing initiatives by managing a team of on-shore and off-shore resources. You will be making decisions about planning, schedule, resource skill set, resource allocation and trade-offs between manual and automated test initiatives Be hands-on, run triage, provide day-to-day direction and troubleshooting skills on projects Collaborate with product managers, program managers, human computer interaction specialists, customers and prospects to gather and define requirements Collaborate with professional services and support organization to resolve issues Develop and improve internal processes
Job Requirements:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in commercial product development and at least 2 years as a team lead using several of the following skills and technologies: Computer Science degree Demonstrated success is leading a team of software or test engineers Demonstrated problem solving and analysis skills Experience in leading quality discovery and testing efforts Extensive prior participation in agile software development processes, with emphasis on requirements gathering, milestone-based development and triage Extensive experience in Java Presentation technologies (Eclipse SWT, DHTML/HTML, JSP, XSL) Scripting and other automation tools, such as LoadRunner, Rational Functional Tester, SilkTest, JUnit. Database design and development and data modeling (SQL, XML) Experience with multiple operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 2003, Solaris, AIX, Linux, HP-UX) a plus Experience with application servers (WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, JBoss) a plus Experience with several relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) a plus Virtualization technologies, such as VMWare Server, ESX or Lab Manager a plus Diligence, flexibility, patience and attention to detail Job Code : LS505 Division/Department : Lombardi United States
