Employee Communications Manager

We have an immediate need for an Employee Communications Manager to work in our Marketing Department.



Job Summary:

The Manager of Employee Communications is responsible for developing, executing and measuring the effectiveness of internal communications to ensure a steady flow of information to employees via company channels, including the company intranet (The Lawson Globe), regular executive face-to-face meetings, video webcasts (live and recorded), email updates, and other means of communication.



Essential Functions:



Strategic Planning, Management, and Budgeting. Plan and manage strategies and assigned budget for employee communications department:

Create and implement a strategic plan for the employee communications function.

Align and perform all strategic initiatives in support of the company vision and objectives, and coordinate internal communications with externally directed communications.

Manage and monitor the employee communication budget.

Employee Communications Leadership. Provide leadership as the company’s employee communications representative, including:

Stay current with the most progressive, dynamic, technologically advanced and cost-effective methods of communicating with employees.

Work with internal and external sources such as the intranet, internet, print media, email, etc to deliver timely and accurate messages to prospective employees, current employees and former employees as appropriate.

Create employee communications strategies and tactics that are designed to achieve Lawson’s corporate strategy.

Drive employee communications through the network of employee/supervisor relationships in the organization.

Maintain a sense of urgency to communicate with employees in a timely manner.

Measurement. Measure success of employee communications programs through:

Executive feedback.

Primary research through annual employee communication survey and focus groups.

Informal employee feedback systems.

Management:

Manages and leads Employee Communications Specialist(s).

Performs performance appraisals and regular review sessions on performance and development.

Identifies skill strengths and delegate tasks accordingly.



Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field; and / or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated operational performance with high levels of achievement in employee communications, including 5-10 years experience in related areas and demonstrated ability to consult with and present to senior executives.

Superb oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively interact with employees at all organizational levels.

Strong business acumen including an understanding of responsibilities of all functional areas.

Proven motivational and leadership capabilities, with high level of initiative and accountability.

Demonstrated potential to assume increasing managerial responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional development beyond bachelor’s degree including, but not limited to, master’s degree in related field.
