Embedded Software Engr.- Set Top Box

This is a highly visible role working with a team of software engineers to develop and support leading edge Set-top Box Technologies for the company's customers in the areas of HDTV, MPEG2/H.264, PVR, IPSTB, DTV.

Strong communication skills is critical in this role as you will have close communications with the customer and other software and hardware groups within the company. You will work closely with customers at their facility on a daily basis, helping them recreate and diagnose problems. The ideal candidate would need to be able to accurately describe a problem and relay the information to one of the software engineers working out of the San Jose, Irvine or San Diego offices.

Meeting: create agenda and meeting notes and follow-up with action items
Communication: - both verbally and in writing
Technical: Knowledgeable in all aspect of STB systems (More SW oriented)
Tools: Issue tracking tools, ClearCase, Integrated Development Environment. 

Job Requirements :
Prefer BSCS or BSEE or equivalent required (MS a +) with at least 5 years of related experience.
Must have working knowledge of C or C++ in a real time embedded processor environment.
Should have experience with settop box applications, middleware, and understanding of driver software design.
Working knowledge of the MIPS processor and assembly language is a plus.
Experience working with Linux or another real-time operating system is a plus.
Experience with MPEG2 HD/SD, or MPEG-4 video/audio is a plus.
