Youll be joining a highly-collaborative engineering and management team that embraces best practices from the Agile world and is focused on building a world-class team both in terms of practices and technology.As Director of Software QA Engineering, you will be responsible for setting a global QA strategy across multiple development sites. In addition, you will provide direction and leadership to subordinate level managers and Engineering professionals focused on debugging NetApp software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for NetApp products. These committed teams develop, modify, and execute software test plans; analyze and write test standards and procedures; maintain documentation of results; and consult with development Engineers in resolution of problems. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Essential Functions:- Design, develop and implement operating policies that ensure the operation's effective achievement of objectives. - Develop and approve exceptions to policy tied directly to area of responsibility.- Work collaboratively with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.- Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people within your area of responsibility.- Develop budgets for approval and assure adherence once budget is approved.- Utilize previously technical, project management, and people management experience to actively lead strategic regional and global projects. - Control of planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expenses.Education and Experience:- A minimum of 10 years of experience as an individual contributor and a minimum of 5 years as a people manager is required. - A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects is required.Qualifications:Requirements:- 2nd level QA management exp. leading teams of 30+ staff.- Extensive experience testing embedded software is a must. - Experience implementing automation processes. - Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.- A clear understanding of the product development cycle, technical requirements, and project management.- A strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices.- Experience in software test planning, documentation and process improvement.- Experience with developing budgets and predicting project costs.- A demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees.
