Director of Product Development - Media

A Thompson Technologies client has an immediate need for a Director of Product Development.  Our client is leading provider of digital media distribution and management solutions to the television, media and entertainment industries!

 

This is a full-time / permanent opening located in Alpharetta.

 

Responsibilities:

Development, introduction and continual product management of digital content distribution products and services including the development and management of new products or service lines as well as existing product enhancements. Understand company and department objectives, translating goals into clear workgroup and individual performance plans and monitoring the plans to ensure steady progress toward the targeted goals. Recognize business risks and trends that will affect the goals, and make necessary adjustments to plans and resources to accommodate changing demands. Define digital product or service requirements by direct interaction with potential clients, sales staff, engineering and other sources. Define the market potential for the product. Develop a business plan for the proposed product, with clear definition of the assumptions in the business model. Understand the competition and barriers to market. Work with engineering/software development to develop the proposed digital product. Work with marketing communication and sales to define a product launch program. Assist in the definition of collateral materials and sales training materials.



Requirements:

Four-year college degree in business or a related discipline.  MBA or Masters Degree preferred. 10+ years of media experience. Knowledge of digital media post-production and digital media compression including MPEG-2 generation is preferred. Strong technical and operation knowledge of digital technology, software development, data networks and broadband a plus. Ability to think strategically and execute tactically Ability to drive results and create urgency and awareness of time to market needs. Able to demonstrate strong organizational, planning, communication and interpersonal skills.
