Director, Music Software

Position Description:

If you have a passion for music, and a passion for designing easy to use, award winning software, the Real Networks Music team needs you. The Music Software & Services team is responsible for the corporation's wide range of music products, including the Rhapsody application and Rhapsody.com, the first web-based music streaming service. We're seeking an experienced technical engineering leader to help shape the future of Rhapsody by driving the team responsible for the Rhapsody PC client. This includes defining product and feature direction, aligning product direction to business needs, managing the engineering team, and functioning as a member of the senior leadership team in the Music division. Candidates should have experience in many of these areas: product strategy, mapping business requirements to product features, prioritization based on business requirements, cross-functional management (including program management, development, and quality assurance), personnel management (including staffing, retention, morale, etc.), experience building and shipping multiple consumer software applications, and knowledge of media technologies.This position requires 3 or more years as an engineering manager or similar in the software industry, with emphasis on shipping commercial products. A technical degree is preferred. The right candidate will have a creative mind, strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will be looking for a challenging and rewarding role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Knowledge of UI design standards and alternative SDLC models including Agile Methods (particularly Scrum) is a plus.Essential Function: % of Time1.
