Director Enterprise Architecture / 665 Position Description:The Director, Enterprise Application Architecture, has the responsibility of defining, governing, and executing APSs Application Architecture direction. This includes the definition of enterprise standards, the evaluation of key initiatives per EA standards, and the guidance of key initiatives in order to formulate architectural solutions, the creation and support of enterprise application software frameworks, shared application and middleware components, and architectural support for key initiatives.The Director will be responsible for the development of APSs strategy for Enterprise Application and Integration Architecture and will lead a geographically distributed team responsible for the maintenance of an Enterprise-level operating model. This will include responsibilities for the definition, design, communication, and maintenance of the Enterprise Application Architecture Strategy. The Director will also function as an Enterprise Architect on key initiatives at APS.1. Play a leadership role in the definition and execution of APSs Enterprise Application Architecture Strategy supporting the Product Strategy, working with senior technology management team as key stakeholders. 2. Lead, Influence and assist in the creation of a SOA. Define the overall APS Enterprise Application Architecture Roadmap, seek approval of the roadmap by stakeholders, and ensure that value is obtained incrementally as the roadmap is executed. 3. Build and Lead a diversified team with expertise in the development of Application architecture, middleware and Enterprise Components 4. Influence Architecture and Technology direction for key capital initiatives through the role of Enterprise Architecture; Function as an Enterprise Architect on key APS Capital Initiatives. Provide Architecture Advisement for critical APS initiatives. Influence in the definition of APSs Software Architecture and conduct Architecture Reviews for critical APS initiatives. 5. Assist in the definition and governance of APSs IT Strategy as it relates to alignment to the business, evaluation of technology trends, enterprise architecture models, alignment of IT Strategy initiatives to APSs Capital plan, enterprise architecture guiding principles, standards, and technology stacks. Minimum Qualifications: • At least 7 years in the Enterprise Architecture domain with a proven track record in defining a SOA-based roadmap and setting direction for enterprise software components and frameworks.• B.S in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent business experience.• A solid understanding of SOA technologies, tools, and governance process;• Experience in all aspects of software development life cycle using the RUP methodology (use case driven iterative process);• The communication skills and persuasion necessary to be an effective proponent of the value of enterprise software components• Experience in implementing at least 2 SOA technologies (e.g. IBM WebSphere/WSAD Oracle Fusion, Vitria, Tibco ) required;• Clear understanding of various architecture domains/discipline, such as software, data, security, network, application infrastructure, Middleware/Integration, etc.• A broad knowledge of the entire technology stack, application, data, application infrastructure, and business architecture• Experience in using open source framework or developing frameworks for web-based application required;• A strong grasp of technology components such as BPMS, Rules based programming techniques, ESB, Message Brokers, Messaging, EAI, Imaging, AJAX, RIA, etc.• Experience in development of Web Services, WSDL, JAX-RPC, SOAP; Knowledge of BPEL or FDML.• Experience in working with distributed development teams; offshore, onshore, and near-shore• Travel – up to 30% may be required.
