Hosting strategies have been developed, and their execution will be in three distinct areas: production applications, development and QA environments and SaaS delivery, a new company initiative. An accomplished leader is required to oversee the data center design, services implementation, capacity planning and scaling, and services delivery. Autodesk's current 3,500 sq. ft. Data Center is out of power capacity, sits on a flood plain, and a fault line – this needs to be remedied to support Disaster Recovery and business continuity objectives. In addition, the company has 120 sites globally. The majority of these sites have some server room capability to support product development build and QA environments. The immediate strategy is to consolidate these server rooms to collocation as part of our Next Generation Data Center project. The Director Data Center and Hosting Services will represent IT Infrastructure Operations on the cross-functional Build and Release core Team, and will be a key driver for the implementation of the new Data Center strategy. The individual in this role will have high visibility across the enterprise and will be influencing at the EVP level. Succession planning is such that this individual could well move into the role of Sr. Director IT Operations in two to four years. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the data center design, services implementation, capacity planning and scaling, and services delivery for multiple global data centers. Work with the Autodesk ITIL team and business stakeholders to define Service Level Agreements for hosting services. Manage hosting services to Service Level Agreements, and own all aspects of incident and service reporting. Provide project and management leadership for infrastructure growth and deployment initiatives. Be accountable for ensuring technology projects incorporate appropriate planning, technical analysis, budgets, and resource management in order to meet deadlines and objectives. Project level involvement will vary to include, but not limited to the following: high-level designs, technology assessment, technical architecture review, staff and resources, implementation and deployment schedules, financial estimates and tracking, recording, and reporting. Provide leadership, manage and develop a diverse technology staff to effectively accomplish goals. Build a collaborative team and promote a team environment with our talented internal team, leverage their diverse technical talents and expertise across multiple projects to produce results. Develop and implement processes and procedures, ensure that established policies and procedures are followed for consistency across the organization. Build strong relationships with senior management across product divisions; use influence to drive infrastructure technology standards in support of product initiatives across the enterprise. EXPERIENCE Must have at least twelve (12+) years demonstrated experience successfully managing hosted services in a multi-site collocation/data center environment - preferably for on-demand software offerings. BS/MS in Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering Solid management and leadership capabilities, at least twelve (12+) years successfully managing a talented diverse technical staff. At least twelve (12+) years technical experience with extensive network systems and communication infrastructure (Citrix, SAN, VM, Web-based application, application infrastructure). Understand software architecture and engineering as it relates to the infrastructure, and network operations. Demonstrated success in project planning management and maintenance of multiple collocations in a high volume transaction environment. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and allocate resources in a dynamic, strategic and execution-oriented manner. Ability to manage, and be tactical down to the detail; highly organized. Track record of taking a combination of business, budgets, and technology challenges to produce high-impact end results. Successful leader and team builder throughout. Ability to effectively communicate internally as well as with external contacts. Ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and operations groups.
