Database Engineer

Gracenote is searching for a talented, energetic, responsible, and results-oriented Database Engineer to develop applications related to its world famous audio recognition services, fingerprint matching services, and other leading products.  Gracenote is changing the way people experience digital entertainment and you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact in this space. The products we create power industry leading applications such as Apple iTunes, RealOne, Winamp, and Sony Sonic Stage, in addition to cell phone applications throughout the world.

 



The Database Engineer position is within the Database Department and you'll work alongside a talented and fun group of folks who love to create solutions to hard business problems.  Our systems are varied and complex and integral to Gracenote’s business.  Projects last from weeks to months and you'll be presented with plenty of variety.

 

The position is located in Emeryville within easy access to the Bay Bridge/580/880.  This is a great opportunity at a fun and growing company, with tons of potential for growth.

Technical and business requirements include:

- 3+ years experience constructing database software, preferably in Oracle

- Working knowledge of one of the following programming languages: c, java, perl, python, pl/sql

- Great written and verbal communication skills

- Working knowledge of unix

- Familiarity with internet technologies such as HTTP, HTML, XML, ftp, etc

- Working understanding of current software design practices and software project management methodologies, such as agile and waterfall
