Database Analysts/Scanning Technicians - 2 POSITIONSDescription: Database Analysts/Scanning Technicians - TWO OPENINGS SQL, Oracle, Queries, Tables, Joins1.5 TO 2-YEAR PROJECT 2ND SHIFT STARTING AT 4PM; 3RD SHIFT STARTING AT MIDNIGHTA major Class I Railroad company has a long-term (1.5 to 2 years) contract position available for two (2) Database Analysts/Scanning Technicians.Position Description:Our Client has a large project that will involve scanning exceptionally large amounts of material and entering it into databases. They need two (2) people working either Second Shift (starting at 4pm) or Third Shift (starting at midnight) to not only scan all information but build the database as they go. The equipment that the Database Analysts/Scanning Technicians should be familiar with is listed below.Project Overview:This project will require the services of two (2) people for an estimated period of 1.5 to 2 years. The project consists of scanning and cataloging approximately 460,000 Engineering plans.These plans are currently in the following formats: Paper/Linen Microfilm (i.e. plain and punched cards) 16 and 35 mm roll filmVarious pieces of equipment will be used to scan the Engineering plans, all of which are on-site.Our Client has: An OCE TDS800 series Scanner/Printer A Tameran Auto Card Scanner A Tameran Roll Film ScannerDuties and Responsibilities:Our Client will need two (2) people to perform the duties required for this project, which are as follows: Overseeing the project Populating and manipulating multiple tables within a pre-existing relational database Scanning documents Cataloguing each Engineering plan, which includes: Performing data input Cataloguing documents Linking/Joining records from multiple database tablesAbout Our Client:This is a major Class I Railroad company that operates 21,500 route miles in 22 eastern states, the District of Columbia and the province of Ontario, Canada. The most common commodity hauled on the railroad is coal from mines in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. In fact, it is a major transporter of domestic and export coal in the Eastern half of the U.S. This railroad also offers an extensive intermodal network in eastern North America. The current system was planned in 1982.
