Database Administrator

 

The Applications DBA positions are critical to our company and challenging for the individuals who hold the positions.  This is a customer-facing position.  In one of these roles, the DBA will represent the face of IT to our internal applications users in accounting and finance, professional services, legal, and all geographic areas of our company. The successful candidates should have:

 

· Excellent communication skills. (Written/Verbal)

· Good working knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN or NAS, as well as Active Directory,  MSSQL, Crystal Reports, Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003, terminal services, RDP

· Experience with SQL Server 2000/2005(Required)

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Sciences, Business or combination of experience and study is desirable

· Certifications:  MCSE ( or similar education/certification)

· Experience with ERP/CRM applications (nice to have)

· The ability to:

o  Test, troubleshoot, document and implement new applications, interfaces and systems in support

o  Use knowledge of application functionality to develop and communicate design alternatives, recommend solutions and communicate restraints to project team and end users.

o  Evaluate and install vendor software including scripts, application programs, forms and report development tools.

o  Documents all relevant system modifications. 

o  Proactively manage and maintain key aspects of the assigned applications and application service delivery environment day-to-day.

o  Help to ensure data integrity and validity of applications and provide on-going support, follow-up and maintenance of existing applications and systems.

 

The DBA is responsible for configuration management and documentation of application and system topologies, and for following organizational application change control policies. 

· Works with information technology professionals and suppliers to provide insight and advice to senior managers and executives concerning the strategic direction and applicability of enterprise-based products.

· Provides technical insight into the determination of technical inadequacies and/or deficiencies that affect the functional area's ability to support/meet organizational goals.

· Takes initiative and able to collaborate in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
