DVD Quality Control
Major Job Duties / Responsibilities:
• Individual will perform quality assurance testing on video, audio and subtitle tracks; menu and disc navigation; and player compatibility for High Definition movie titles.
• Individual will perform incoming qc of the client supplied materials (audio, video, subtitles, and graphics) for High Definition Disc production.
• Individual will perform emulation qc of authored BD disc images (linear playback testing of audio, video and subtitles; disc navigation testing; etc.).
• Individual will perform disc qc using BD players (linear playback testing of audio, video and subtitles; disc navigation testing; etc.).
• Duties require an accurate and methodical approach to testing as well as a very focused and detailed attention to audio, video and subtitle impairments and artifacts.
• Visual quality assurance testing of compressed video material
• Audible quality assurance testing of encoded audio material
• Visual quality assurance testing of subtitle (text) streams
• Qualification of Menu navigation and functionality of HD-DVD (Blu-Ray) software
• Use DDS Checklists to verify compliance of DDS product to client specifications and Bill of Materials
•Individual must be able to troubleshoot quality control issues and player anomalies. Individual must be organized, diligent and detail-oriented.
•Individual must possess solid oral and written communication skills.
This is the final step in the High Definition Disc Authoring production process. This individual will test all facets of an HD / BD movie title before the project is viewed by the client and/or approved for mass replication.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
• Individual must be capable of working in a fast-paced, small team environment with hard deadlines.
• Individual must create their own quality control procedures for testing and approving BD movie projects.
• Individual will need to make frequent "subjective" decisions as part of their daily function (e.g. determining the "severity rating" for quality defects, determining which defects are acceptable, etc.).
• Associate degree in computer science, programming, electronics, A/V technology, television production, gaming or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Individual must possess a fundamental understanding of audio, video, interactive multimedia, professional tape machines, and consumer electronic devices. Individual must be very organized, detail-oriented and focused.
• Individual must realize the necessity and importance of accountability through written documentation
• Basic computer skills (PC) are required (e.g. Word, Excel, email, copying files to various media, etc.)
