POSITION SUMMARY
Manage the maintenance activities of the J2EE platform development team. Oversee programming, debugging and modification of platform software that is used to build applications. Maintain overall responsibility for project management of maintenance releases and customer escalations. Manage personnel-related activities for a staff of software developers including hiring, firing, performance appraisals, mentoring, and staff development.
1. Manage and lead sustaining development efforts for the TRIRIGA platform.
** Ensure enhancement and maintenance release projects are completed on time and according to company quality standards
** Facilitate communications upward and across project team including project status, justifications for variances and technical information
** Direct and approve project plans that include a schedule with key milestones, risks, contingency plans, and allocation of resources
** Manage defect scoping and prioritization for ongoing maintenance releases
2. Own the resolution of customer issues. Work with Customer Support and Professional Services to resolve customer issues.
3. Manage personnel activities for a team of developers. Provide performance feedback, career guidance, training opportunities, and team motivation. Adapt and implement employee satisfaction and development. Provide mentoring and coaching to team members. Develop and expand team when appropriate via effective recruiting efforts.
REQUIREMENTS
** 5+ years of technical experience in software design & development
** 2+ years project management experience
** 2+ years of personnel management experience
** Strong management skills including effective time management, communications, problem resolution, decision making, presentation, human relations, organization, and delegation
** In-depth knowledge and understanding of department strategic objectives and goals
** High level of skill in developing, mentoring, empowering, managing, and supporting staff
** Skill in interviewing, recruiting and determining the suitability of candidates for various roles
** Strong team building skills
** Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
** Thorough technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation
** Java experience required.
** Advanced skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation
** In-depth understanding of the entire software development life cycle process.
** Strong understanding of web technologies
** Solid knowledge of relational database applications and SQL
** Outstanding customer management skills, including diplomacy, clear communication style, and relationship development
EDUCATION
BS in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
