Title: Consulting Business Analyst #65584 Location: Denver, CO Role/Purpose: Autodesk has a strong focus in the utilities and telecommunications (U&T) industries. Autodesk Consulting (AC) is currently in the process of expanding its base of U&T knowledgeable personnel in a variety of different roles primarily to meet the needs of the Autodesk Utility Design and Topobase customers. These resources will participate in the delivery of consulting projects, particularly in the area of electric utility distribution design and utility GIS. AC's Business Analysts (BAs) have expertise in a particular business area or industry (e.g. someone who understands the electric utility industry, how it operates and does business, and their business priorities). These consultants understand how to work with AC customers by gathering business requirements and developing solutions that meet the customers' business needs. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: AC projects involve implementing Autodesk technologies for customers to solve their business needs. This position will typically work on project teams consisting of AC, customer and subcontractor personnel and will be involved in various activities depending on the stage the project. The main job duties of a BA include the following: Working with AC customers to help AC and the customer understand the customer's current environment and issues and working with AC technical specialists, to help define solutions using the appropriate Autodesk technologies that solve the customer's business issues. This is accomplished by interviewing and consulting with customers in order to gather and clearly document customer functional, business and solution requirements. The BA works with new and existing customers in order to identify unrealized customer needs and promotes Autodesk solutions to drive additional revenue. The BA must understand industry-specific best practices in order to recommend appropriate Autodesk solutions to meet customer business needs. Providing the liaison between the customer's business team and Autodesk's technical team to ensure business requirements are understood and interpreted correctly by Autodesk and helping set customer expectations. Providing validation and assessing feasibility, correctness and completeness of proposed solutions; applying best practices in solving business problems; sharing domain knowledge and otherwise contributing to team understanding relative to domain expertise. Maintaining and communicating a comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of the technologies of her/his domain, and insight into industry best-practices, business processes, applications and solutions the domain impacts and is impacted upon by the technology marketplace. Working with AC's quality assurance teams to develop business process oriented software test plans and participating in the software test/validation process. Working with customers to define and implement training, deployment and change management plans. Working with AC Project Managers to ensure that project plans and schedules incorporate the correct processes to capture requirements. Developing presentations, flow charts, diagrams, and other project documentation and delivering presentations that clearly convey AC concepts. Delivering product demonstrations to customer teams. Supporting sales and business development by writing and/or reviewing proposals, developing scopes of work, and delivery estimates including resource requirements for Autodesk solutions. Providing presentations at trade shows and events or writing white papers highlighting how Autodesk technologies solve business issues. Critical Competencies/Minimum Requirements: Electric utility industry experience (10+ years) with focus in the distribution engineering organizations. Experience with electric design tools and practices including material ordering, staking and engineering analyses, GIS and related systems. This experience should include but is not limited to time spent working with and within investor owned utilities, provincial or government owned, municipal and local power companies and electric cooperatives. Current knowledge of Autodesk and other competing industry leading utility design or geospatial software applications is desired. Other utility industry expertise such as natural gas, telecom, CATV, water and waste water is desired but not critical to this is position. Teamwork skills - Demonstrated experience leading or working on teams for complex IT implementation projects using structured implementation methodologies. Organizational skills - Demonstrated ability to organize and lead a requirements gathering process, participate in software quality assurance processes and employee change management and deployment processes. Written communication skills Demonstrated ability to develop consulting project documents, including, but not limited to clear and concise customer software requirement documents, implementation plans, schedules and cost estimates. Verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to lead workshops and deliver presentations at meetings or conferences. Demonstrated experience communicating to a wide range of personnel including both AC and customer technical resources, management and executives. Ability and willingness to travel 25-50% of time depending on assigned projects and project requirements. Interpersonal: Team work demonstrated ability to work in a team of technical personnel, sales people, subject matter experts, and other project managers Listening Communications verbal and written Managing multiple priorities Resourceful - Demonstrated ability to manage through difficult situations (technical and interpersonal) to meet Autodesk and customer needs.
