Clinical Validation Scientist
COMPANY OVERVIEW:Vital Images, Inc. is advancing medicine by bringing advanced visualization and data analysis to everyday medical practice. Vitrea® 2, our flagship software, rapidly creates accurate, interactive 2D, 3D and 4D images from 2D information generated by computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) and positron emission tomography (PET) scanners and provides advanced analysis tools. ViTALConnect™, our Web-enabled medical diagnostic tool, allows physicians anywhere, anytime access to interactive 2D, 3D and 4D advanced visualization and analysis.
BASIC PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:We are looking for a clinical validation scientist to join our world-class clinical development group. Your role will be to lead the clinical validation activities at Vital Images. As part of your responsibilities, you will manage ViTAL clinical research accounts and will assist our clinical research collaborators in their study design and statistical analysis. OVERALL OUTPUTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Your main duties will be both to support internal clinical validation of new software and external validation through partnership with leading clinical research institutions.External focus:• Manage clinical research accounts• Assist clinical research collaborators in writing clinical study protocols and in providing statistical analysis expertise• Assist in search for grant fundingInternal focus:• Establish clinical validation plan for every software release• Conduct validation of clinical software• Produce and facilitate collection of ground-truth data• Manage and organize clinical databases (internal databases, clinical papers)• Drive diffusion of clinical papers in collaboration with Legal and Marketing departments
SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:• Must have 3+ years of clinical research in a medical field (medical imaging preferred) • Must be proficient with statistical analysis methods, including classification trees and cluster analysis, boosting, machine learning, data mining, neural networks, non-parametric techniques, power analysis, multi-variable analysis, survival analysis, and ROC methods.• Must be proficient with Excel and statistical software employed in clinical research.• Must be self-motivated and capable of working effectively in a team environment and have excellent communication, presentation, and problem solving skills. • Must demonstrate scientific excellence by a strong publication record and/or evidence of scientific initiative. • Experience to write and run scripts, set up experiments, organize data and results is required.• Broad and deep clinical expertise is strongly desired.• Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements is not required but would be an asset.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:MS in Biostatistics/Mathematics/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering. Ph.D. in Biostatistics preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift, push and pull 40 lbs. We are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer M/F/D/V
