Location: simsbury, CT 06070Your location:home   »  find a job   »  advanced search   »  job description Apply Online Send this Job to a Friend Hudson is partnered with a Software development company to staff a C/C++ developer for a fulltime opportunity with the client.Client is looking for a proven Software Developer to augment our team in product development.  The scope of the projects includes development of newly added features to the company’s extensive automated tank gauging (ATG) equipment.  We are interested in expanding the Linux knowledge base in house.1.  Key ResponsibilitiesClient is in the process of implementing a well defined Lean Software Development process modeled after Agile concepts. The new Software Development Role will help support the new processes and consists of the following responsibilities:· Software Development using C/C++ using Linux tools and Visual Studio.  This is a cross-platform development environment. · Management of daily tasks.  Work is documented using JIRA for task and bug management.· Requirements Development:  Must be able to work with marketing to review and help develop new software requirements.· Unit Test Development to verify that developed software is working properly.· Peer code reviews are performed by all software developers.· Support for member of the Quality Assurance group during test phases.2.  RelationshipsThis position will report directly to the Software Development Manager.It also requires interaction with other software developers to complete project tasks.  The developers are primarily in the same department.  Depending on the complexity of testing, exchanges with system testers will be required.Some development tasks are linked to teams worldwide and may require continuous interactions for a period of time.3.  Measures of PerformanceThe successful candidate will be measured on the following:· Ability to complete tasks on-time· Software Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including Quality, Delivery to Schedule, Scope, and Cost· Reporting on a daily basis for assigned tasks· Ability to work well in a dynamic team environment.The candidate’s success will be measured on their ability to meet project schedule commitments and improvement of software engineering key performance indicators.4.  Background and SkillsMust Have· B.Sc./M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent;  · Senior Developer, 6+ years experience· 4+ years experience in Linux environment· Minimum 4 years of C++ software implementation (see below)· Knowledge of TCP/IP networking is required· Knowledge of Linux tools is crucial (GCC, GDB, Make) as well as Admin experience· Strong Application Design Experience essentialShould Have· Scripting Knowledge is required (e.g. Bash, Perl, Python, etc.)· Experience with unit test tools (CppUnit, JUnit, NUnit, etc.)· Visual Studio Experience· CORBA Services Development· SQL Lite knowledge (mySQL or others), General DB design would be helpfulNice To Have· Experience designing embedded software for monitoring equipment· Experience working in an Agile development environment would be useful· Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) is a plus· Knowledge of QT for GUI development could be useful5.  Personal Trait ProfileThe development environment requires that the successful candidate;· Is highly self-motivated and well organized individual with a "can do" attitude· Is able to work independently · Is driven to meet goals agreed upon with management· Works well with team members and is willing to support others in completing the team goals· Is excellent communicator, both written and verbal· Has an appreciation of good requirement capture & system specificationThe ideal candidate should have experience working on products for competitive markets About Hudson IT & Telecommunications Hudson IT&T serves as a trusted resource for clients seeking high-quality technology professionals and IT solutions.
