General Summary:

Shavlik is seeking an experienced, self-starting Application C#/C++/.NET Programmer, with a strong work ethic, capable of working independently and as part of a team to design, develop, maintain, and enhance existing and future applications built using the latest Microsoft development technologies.  This position reports to the Development Manager and requires two years of technical experience in software design and product support.  This person will have the opportunity to work with our current products, the technical support team and sales engineers to provide solutions for customer issues. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

60% Maintains and enhances existing applications

* Maintains internal and customer-facing desktop and web applications.

* Gathers requirements, and designs and implements new features and enhancements.

 

30% Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.

* Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions to the problems.

* Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits.

 

10% Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.

 

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science.

2 years of experience in software development is preferred.

 

 

Required skills, knowledge

 

Knowledge and experience developing full-lifecycle applications built on the Microsoft .NET framework.

Design experience in OOD/OOP.

Programming language:  C++ and C#.

SQL database skills (ADO, SQL, stored procedures, ASP.Net).

Working experience with XML.

Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

 

Recommended

 

Knowledge of networking and security related application development.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation. Analytical and design skills at multiple product level. Skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation. Understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Advanced PC skills.

 

Equipment and Applications
PCs and various software applications. Familiar with design and UML tools products.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment.  Ability to use computer keyboard up to 95% of the day required.
