Avalere Health is currently looking for a Associate SAS Programmer/Analyst to join our growing Data & Analytics practice. 

 

The Data & Analytics practice consists of staff with specialized experience, such as programmers, methodological experts, and project managers, who conceptualize, execute, and deliver analytical work products for clients.  We also work closely with other practices within Avalere, applying the full scope of the firm’s knowledge base to the development of multi-disciplinary, creative solutions on behalf of our clients.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Working with Medicare and commercial plan data to inform business and policy strategy recommendations for clients.Conceptualizing the scope of quantitative / programming projects for clients. Solving complex programming problems in a timely and appropriate manner.Working with client managers and less experienced staff as part of a cross-functional team to deliver projects to clients.

 

Skills, Experience, and Other Job Related Requirements:Data manipulation experience using Data Step programming. Experience creating a wide variety of output, reports, and delivery files. Strong analytic and problem solving skills.Ability to work independently or in teams.Experience managing complex project work and meeting deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Desirable Skills and Experience:Experience with SAS Macros. Experience with SAS/STAT. Experience with data cleaning, editing, and employing quality/accuracy measures. Experience analyzing Medicare claims data, prescription drug claims data, data from large government surveys (e.g. MEPS or MCBS), and/or other large (>1 million records) datasets. Experience programming and interpreting statistical analyses and/or building statistical models. Experience using ODS, DDE, and other methods to deliver output in Excel.

 

Career Experience:

The appropriate candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, economics, statistics, business, public policy, public health, or a relevant discipline.  A minimum of two years of experience in SAS programming is required.
