Job Function:

 

The primary role of the Applications Systems Analyst (Applications Developer II) position is to develop Business Software Applications to be used at HP Hood, and provide user support for Business Software Applications.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

 

ENSURE DATA INTEGRITY/PROTECTION:

· Conduct adequate testing prior to implementing Business Software Applications to ensure proper data processing.

· Working with the ITS Operations staff:

-  Schedule jobs to ensure proper processing

-  Monitor jobs to ensure complete and proper execution; properly manage any problems involving execution discovered to include documentation of any corrective action taken.  (Audit trail.) 

-  Ensure that proper application security is in place to protect access to data/transactions

-  Participate in decisions regarding scheduling of necessary back ups

 

APPLICATIONS DEVELOPMENT: Develop new and modify/maintain existing applications using the appropriate technical skills/tools required to develop the Application involved; such as Programming Languages or Application Development Tools selected by Hood for use. 

 

MANAGE APPLICATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, WITH ROUTINE GUIDANCE:

· Business process analysis/determining user requirements

· Development of specifications

· Development and execution of application test plans

· Implementation management

 

END USER SUPPORTRespond to user requests for assistance Troubleshoot and find resolutions to problems

 

END USER TRAINING:Train end users on new or modified applications Development of documentation

 

CONTINUOUS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:Continue personal development in both technical and business areas Continue to keep up-to-date with relevant information technology developments Cross-train on other Business Applications used at Hood Continue to expand knowledge of Hood's business.

 

Job Qualifications:

 Associate Degree in Information Systems, Business, or Computer Science or equivalent experience Coursework in:  Computer Programming, Applications Development Life Cycle/Methods,  Business or Systems Analysis, or equivalent experience A minimum of 5 years "hands on" experience developing Business Software Applications.

-  This experience must include a minimum of 3 years of direct involvement with significant ITS Applications Development, of which at least 2 years must be within an ITS Applications support & development organization.

 Must have a big picture perspective and a solid understanding of how Business Software Applications interface with each other Able to work independently with routine guidance Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to multi-task between several items at once Ability to react under pressure to any given situation that may arise, in a professional manner and with positive results, in support of a multi-location, 24 X 7 environment

 

Technical skills:

 Must have verifiable knowledge of, or experience, in the following areas:

-  Applications development/programming

-  Applications support/management

-  Application development life cycle

-  SQL Server 2005 (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) development

-  T-SQL

-  Business Analysis

-  User Training

-  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 Preferred Skills

-  Data Warehousing and BI

-  Exposure to .NET programming and/or SharePoint 2007

-  Exposure to AS/400
