GTS is immediately looking to hire an AIX UNIX Administrator for a contract-to-hire engagement at a client site in Lake Forest, IL.

You will be joining a team of three network administrators to support the enterprise environment.  Your role will be a mixture of day-to-day administration, supporting 2000 users, and taking responsibilities for projects as they are assigned to you.  Your specific job duties will include the following:Day-to-day systems monitoring and administration Production backups WebSphere application server support Investigation of new technology options to meet compliancy needs, improve productivity, and/or increase ROI of assets; these areas are to include but not be limited to security, performance, and data managementConfigure test labs for proof-of-concept on proposed technologies; document for implementation to productionCreation/Maintenance of network standards; design efficiencies and scalability within network architecture; review monthly reports of all projects and work with management to ensure standard methods and processes are being followedPhysically building servers to specification for drives, memory, processors, and other special devices; installation of operating systems onto these server platformsWork with IT management to define new processes, tools, and measurements to ensure continual improvements in the delivery of the applicationsAssists in the installation and maintenance/troubleshooting of Cisco hardware on LANIncident and Problem Management (NOC backup; answer network operations hotline and create Magic tickets and white board items following the standard for operations incident tracking)Provides initial problem diagnosis Communication point for network team to other areas within the company, as well as to vendorsMaintain and update documentation of incidents using the Magic incident tracking software Escalate support to appropriate staff, if necessaryRequest assistance in working the console phones if necessaryIdentify recurring problems and research/implement solutions

Technical Requirements:UNIX AIX (2 to 4 years, including experience with P 650 technology) WebSphere Application Server MQ Series (Middleware) Active Directory
