AIX Systems Administrator

Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, MSA also has offices in New York; Chicago; Atlanta; High Point, NC; China; United Kingdom; and Malaysia.  Job DescriptionAdminister servers running IBM AIX 5.3, extensive knowledge with Power5  and LPAR configuration, in a production environment Perform setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of existing infrastructure as well as new machines entailing firmware, microcode,OS, and HMC updates Ability to propose/recommend new technologies into the existing environment.  Work in a team based environment and be able to coordinate with other groups on large-scale projects Perform backup and restore operations to preserve and recover data as required Perform daily duties related to system health monitoring and system integrity assurance Provide tier two technical support in coordination with help-desk to resolve client issues

Required SkillsCompletion of a four-year degree program in Computer Science or equivalent experience Minimum of two years experience Possess intimate knowledge of AIX OS (preferably AIX 5.3) for use in a production environment Possess ability to analyze logs and take necessary action to ensure system health and integrity Experience with IBM HMC Possess basic knowledge in a scripting language such as Ksh, Perl, Python, etc Linux experience.  Redhat would be a plus Familiarity with VMware, Apache, and GNU products a plus Experience with database servers (Oracle, MySQL) a plus Unix experience.  HPUX, Tru64 and Solaris would be a plus Ability to perform on-call duties on a rotating schedule as well as be available for occasional weekend and evening work
