iSeries Administrator
JOB SUMMARY: Oversight of the iSeries (AS/400) hardware, operating software, SilverLake core banking software and related components.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist IT management and vendors in the planning and implementation of any operational software, hardware, peripherals, or related components associated with the iSeries.
2. Serves as iSeries Security Administrator by maintaining authorization levels to iSeries user profiles and iSeries application menu options.
3. Coordinates and oversees vendor modifications to their application software via authorizing and logging access to the iSeries through the Electronic Customer Support (ECS) modem.
4. Ensures proper security, safety, procedures, operator logs, maintenance logs, and adequate back-up exists within the data operations area by developing and maintaining current documentation for all tasks assigned, and by ensuring prompt and continuous implementation of the Information Technology Policies and Procedures.
5. Adheres to regular attendance and work hours established by department and/or organization.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops customized reports for various user departments utilizing Query/400, Client Access/400 file transfer capabilities, and vendor supplied software products.
2. For specific programming projects assigned requiring in-house developed software or customization of vendor supplied software, is responsible for the following tasks:
· Gathers all necessary information by interview or observation.
· Considers impact on all affected areas.
· Prepares and maintains documentation.
· Follows IT Policies & Procedures regarding programming guidelines.
3. Strives to provide excellent service to both internal and external customers and contributes to the cross selling of bank services.
4. Performs such other duties as may be assigned on either a permanent or a temporary basis.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
1. Experience with the administration and the security aspects of an IBM iSeries midrange computer system.
2. Experience using IBM Query/400 or similar ad-hoc report writer software.
3. Knowledge of banking operations desirable.
