Job Description:  Lead Wireless Systems Engineer responsible for leading the ongoing technical design development and support of Rivada Networks core Emergency Communication Provider (ECP) products that are deployed for first responders nation wide (ECP team has regular interaction and works cross-functionally with other Rivada Networks groups, namely DoD – Northern Command, FEMA, National Guard, Operations, Customer Care/Billing and other internal groups).
The position has a high impact and growth potential. Candidates must be extremely reliable, resourceful, confident and knowledgeable with successive promotion.
Responsibilties include (but not limited to): Perform vertical (Application Layer through Physical Layer) detailed drill-down analysis in both application layer protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, WAP, SMS and MMS; as well as current and emerging radio access technologies, including GSM/GPRS/EDGE, CDMA/1xRTT, EV-DO, and UMTS/WCDMA. Provide testing and quality-assurance guidelines assistance and hand-on coaching to develop to junior engineers. Provide insights and advice to Product Manager for interaction with customers; participate in direct face-to-face with customers where necessary. Interact with Product Managers in assisting product definition, features, and roadmaps. Develop systems solutions that meet program objectives and acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints Experience Requirements: 15+ years experience in Communications and/or System Engineering, preferably in a   wireless carrier environment Work experience showing progressive promotion and achievement Good communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate technical team members Ability to function efficiently under pressure and communicate well with executive management Organized thinker with good problem solving skills Experience defining and developing data communication protocols, products, and associated hardware and software components Experience implementing network standards and protocols including wireless networking, and equipment. Experience with distributed engineering projects covering multiple engineering types Experience with distributed, lightweight databases, remote procedure calls (RPC/SOAP), and/or XML desired Strong project management skills in
                PMBOK accreditation
                 PMP
                 CSQA a plus Ideal Candidate Also Possesses Following Knowledge and Expertise: Research and development of DoD tactical communications systems Wireless back office system and IT infrastructure planning and testing. RF Interference and appropriate mitigation techniques for Broadcast, Microwave, LMR, Cellular/Wireless FCC licensing procedures and experimental licensing procedures  Tactical communication systems, national communications systems and architectures, and COTS wireless communications, including signal types, protocols and general system operations Experience in R&D requirements definition process, design lifecycle process to include: ICD development, protocol development, and architecture development
