VoIP Support Engineer Atlanta Description:SUMMARY OF POSTITION: Provide expert-level VoIP network management, installation, integration and maintenance support for all hardware, software and peripherals within the Cox Communications VoIP Network. It is desirable the ideal candidate have a good understanding and possess a working knowledge in several of the following disciplines: BroadSoft Voice Manager, NextPoint SBCs / RSM, NT CS2K(c) succession switching platform, Cisco BTS10/200 soft switch, IMS, CSLAN (ERS-8600), DOCSIS, DHCP, DDNS, PCMM, Data Networking. *** Heavy emphasis towards incumbent with hands-on BroadSoft VoiceManager experience as the incumbent will be subject matter expert within the department, initially supporting 4 BroadSoft instances deployed across the country. *** Provide Tier-4 technical support to field operations personnel through a working knowledge and understanding of DOCSIS, CMTS's, Routers, Unix OS and Linux OS, MGCP, TGCP, NCS 1.0, Packetcable 1.0, SIP/SIP-T, CMS, Media Gateways, and SS7 network. Provide SME incident command support along with coordination of activities to troubleshoot and resolve network related issues in an expeditious manner.Create operational technical requirements and implementation planning for business services delivery via next generation VoIP systems. Execute acceptance testing and issue resolution with project management and internal teams. Develop M&P's and supporting documentation, modify best practices related to operational support for new and existing product development. This key position is responsible for the 24 hour, 7 day a week technical operations support with surveillance and performance management of all elements related to the Cox VoIP network.Preference is given to individuals that have a strong working background with the BroadSoft VoiceManager application along with Data and/or Telephony experience, including a working knowledge of PacketCable Standards, SIP based services, IP networking and routing, AIN functionality, IMS, SBCs, VoIP Trunking. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Responsible for all VoIP network elements. Special emphasis on Voice over IP network elements such as BroadSoft VoiceManager application, Session Border Controllers / RSM, Call Management Servers, Gateway Controllers and Trunk gateways, SIP Proxy Servers, Data networking, IP routing, CSLAN 2. Configuration, provisioning and deployment of BroadSoft BroadWorks VoiceManager application in support of Cox Business to various COX markets.3. Interface with the NOC M&C Special staff to resolve hardware problems.4. Coordinate with equipment vendors on issues requiring software/hardware `fixes from the manufacturer.5. Provide expert level technical support for all telephony elements comprising the VOIP platform. 6. Implementing vendor software/hardware upgrades on the VoIP Network Elements.7. Track vendor related trouble tickets and follow-up through resolution.8. Configuration, provisioning and deployment of trunk gateways to various COX markets.9. Implementing all vendor hardware upgrades for the telephone switches.10. Create/update the various acceptance and test procedures used by Cox Communication Network Operation Center and Local Operating Companies. 11. Responsible for all vendor Customer Service Requests (CSR), including opening, clearing and maintaining a tracking database. 12. Interface with other departments/vendors on network problems and follow through to resolution.Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS:1. Typical Training / Experience - Typically requires BS in Engineering or related discipline and generally 5-8 years of experience in related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification required in some areas2. An excellent understanding of technology standards and specifications related to digital switching, VOIP transmissions systems, SONET transmission systems, data network management or related telecommunications systems is required 3. Hands on technical experience working with/maintaining a telephone switch database is required.4. Must be able to direct and instruct personnel through technical resolution of software problems.5. Written and oral communications, analytical and problem solving skills are essential.6. Proficient in using standard computer hardware and software systems.7. Relevant fields include Telecommunications network design, activation and operation, VoIP network design, activation and operation, Data network design, activation and operation, IP Network design, activation and operation. 8. Traditional and next generation Telecom access and transport technologies.9. An excellent understanding of VoIP technology, SIP applications, and experience with integrating VoIP systems to PSTN systems is required. 10. Preference is given to individuals with cross-functional Data and Telephony experience 11. Experience with specifications related to digital switching and transmission systems or related telecommunications systems and data networks is preferred. 12.
