Travel Channel - Product Manager, Search New York City Description:Travel Channel Product Manager, SearchLocation: Ideally NYC, but Chevy Chase/D.C. could be okThe Product Manager, Search will oversee all search related initiatives for TravelChannel.com, including search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM). He/she will be responsible for achieving improved rankings in and traffic from organic and paid search for the site, and will also serve as the business owner for the sites internal search product.In this role, he/she will take a hands-on approach facilitating search optimization and ensuring search-friendly product development. This role requires cross-department collaboration with Editorial, Marketing, Technology, Research and Ad Sales. Qualified candidates will have SEO/SEM production and project management experience and extensive digital expertise. The role requires both the attention to detail needed to manage complex campaigns and the creativity needed to set Travel Channels overall search strategy.Responsibilities Include: -Work with Technology team to improve existing internal search tool and evaluate new options. -Initiate and refine SEM campaigns in conjunction with Digital Marketing team and outside agencies. Align SEO program goals and paid search efforts. Work with agencies to create linking strategy and directory listing campaigns.-Partner with search consultants to set guidelines for writing optimal metatags and for dynamically generated metatags. Train editorial staff to write search-engine friendly copy. Review all major initiatives to ensure that they are search optimized.-Work with Research team, agencies to monitor traffic from search and the effectiveness of campaigns.-Liaise with technical team to implement recommendations on site architecture, URL structure, source code best practices, etc. Ensure that recommendations are incorporated into new templates.-Oversee all current and future search projects. Work with technical project managers to secure effort estimates, establish project timelines, and schedule resources.-Help define new search strategy for rich media (audio, video, images, games) -Continuously expand breadth and types of feeds for all media types and emerging distribution channels.-Monitor search engine changes, search algorithm changes, and emerging SEO strategiesQualifications:-B.S. or B.A. in English, Computer Science, Marketing, Web Design, or other related field -4 years SEO/SEM experience at an online agency or mid/large scale website. -Experience working across internal search, external web search and SEM campaigns.-Knowledge of pay-per-click (PPC) and pay for placement techniques-Search experience including video, image, audio, and games. -Online product development and/or project management experience in a dynamic web environment -Solid working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, PHP, XML, Flash, Actionscript and content management systems-Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills -Expert understanding of website usability and user interface design -Expert Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Outlook)Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceJob Location: New York City, NYJob Number: 6965Company URL: http://www.cox.com/CoxCareer/Company Profile:About Travel ChannelLaunched in February 1987, and recently acquired by Cox Enterprises, the Travel Channel is the only television network devoted exclusively to travel entertainment.
