Test Engineer

Responsible for all aspects of equiment set-up, maintenance, and daily operation of a Research and Development Environment Lab. Qualified candidates should possess experience in software & hardware installations and proven computer troubleshooting & repair skills.

Must be capable of performing computer lab setup, hardware upgrades, hardware disposal, asset inventory, software inventory, component and system test and repair of personal computer peripherals, workstation, and network systems.

Must have experience with Linux and other Unix based operating systems as well as Windows operating Systems and must be proficient in the use of test equipment such analog/digital voltmeters, and network anlyzers required to troubleshoot, isolate, and repair complex problems. LAN/WAN networking experience is required.

Ability to load operating system software, configure network connections and do basic cabling. Must have ability to read and follow directions and work as part of a team on projects. Candidates will work within set timeframes and communicate issues quickly, troubleshoot and gain swift problem resolution to keep project on track with minimal downtime.

Troubleshoot and replace laptop and PC hardware such as CD-Rom, hard drive, graphics cards, motherboard, power supply, computer fan, NIC, monitors, LCD screens.

Other: •Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. •Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. •Excellent time management, communications, decision making, and organization skills. •Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs. •Must be able to work independently to identify and resolve issues. Concurrently, candidate must be able to effectively work with other team members and with upper management. •Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. •Working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies. •Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
