Telecommunications Engineer

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge Requirements:
Telecom, LAN/WAN, cabling, server administration
Skills Required:
· ACACN Certification (Avaya)
· Strong understanding of traditional PBX and VoIP technologies.
· Experience in installing and maintaining ether computer networks.
· Experience with media transport including twisted pair, CAT5, CAT6 cabling, coax, and optical fiber.
· Experience with PSTN network transport including ISDN, DS1, DS3, and OC3.
· Must possess the ability to work within a team environment of shared responsibilities.
· Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
· Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
· Reviewing, coordinating and performing all aspects of station additions, moves and feature changes associated with telecommunication systems.
· Performing trouble analysis and resolution, and/or coordinating trouble resolution with multiple vendors of present day communications systems.
· Assisting in the (oversight) and (coordination) of assigned telecommunications activities between various work groups
· Assist in the research and development of written recommendations of improvements to enhance the technical capabilities of telecommunication systems and reduce operating costs.
· Perform periodic hardware and software upgrades as a part of preventative maintenance program.
· Assisting in maintaining records and preparing required reports relevant to the operations of telecommunications.
· Assisting in writing technical specifications.
· Performing other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum work experience required: 2 years
· Minimum education and training required: Bachelors or equivalent experience
