Technician II-2 (Computer Support)
SUMMARY:Develop or adapt Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data acquisition/database software; apply and develop software to support the air monitoring and analytical activities in support of the demilitarization of chemical weapons; support monitoring and analytical activities by application, modification, and correction of software; develop, debug, maintain, and document custom database application programs for the LIMS; install, configure, and test personal computer components and peripherals, network, and communication equipment in support of monitoring, analytical and data reduction and reporting activities; troubleshoot and correct equipment and software malfunctions as required to maintain support of monitoring and analytical activities; generate reports and graphs to respond to requests for information from laboratory management, field personnel, client, and oversight agencies; interface with other laboratory and systems contractor personnel to discuss problems and develop solutions; train and support users of laboratory application software and network resources; perform tasks according to internal operating procedures including report review, filing, and data entry; use commercially available software packages for spreadsheets, database management, and network administration.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Requires an AA Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 2 years experience programming in Visual Basic, C#, or Visual Studio. One chemistry course at college level beneficial. Experience can be considered in lieu of degree. Experience using personal computers and networks, database and spreadsheets; experience with software and hardware installation and configuration necessary; experience with commercial Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software desirable; interest or background in rapid application development systems a plus; heavy emphasis on database knowledge; must have good communication skills, both oral and written; must work unsupervised. A valid/clear driver’s license is required.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:Applicants selected will be subject to a background investigation, must be a U.S. citizen, and have a valid driver's license, satisfy requirements of National Agency Check and Chemical Personnel Reliablity Program (PRP), meet physical requirements, and be able to wear personal protective equipment.
