This responsibility typically spans all layers of IT infrastructure including hardware, software, networking, and applications. HDS Technical Consultants perform all manner of storage services including data migrations, SAN implementations, and implementation of advanced storage functionalities. Specifically, candidates for this position should have experience designing, deploying, educating, and integrating with local and distance storage replication software from HDS or other storage vendors.Job Description - External:The Technical Consultant will be responsible for leading customers through the deployment of HDS storage replication technologies including implementation, deployment, customization, and training.Breakdown of role by time spent on each activity:Delivery of services (80%)Sharing knowledge and experience with other consultants (15%)Developing new services (5%)Travel associated with this role ranges 60 - 100%. Required Skills and Experience:Excellent customer and employee relationships - must be able to interact successfully with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels in the organizationProven ability to provide oversight and leadership to project teams in service deliveryDemonstrated ability to guide a complex project from inception through delivery and completionExcellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to write project status reports, management escalation documentation, and service planning and definition informationStrong technical background in the areas of data storage and replicationEnterprise storage managementBachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent education or experience3-5 years experience in a technical services organization5+ years technical industry experience in customer-facing roles3 years experience working and supporting enterprise, F1000 customers in the storage and storage managementSolid operating systems skills with storage configuration (volume management)Solid understanding of networking fundamentalsScripting Skills (Shell, VBScript, Perl, etc)Knowledge of Disk Replication Products (HDS-TrueCopy, EMC-SRDF, HP-Continuous Access, IBM-PPRC)Strong customer communication skills, both written and oralStrong group presentation skills and experience providing training to customers.Self motivated - proven track record of working well independently at customer sites Following additional skills a plus:- Oracle or SQL Database Administration.- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio
