Job Category:Systems Primary Location:USA-TX: TEXAS-SAN ANTONIOSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Standard Employee Status:Regular Yes, 25 % of the Time Job Posting: 2008-09-08Description: TS/SCI UNIX System Administrator With Security Experience for San Antonio, Texas Best Qualified Candidate Must Have: 5 years experience in the following UNIX functions: general Unix operating system file locations; maneuvering through Unix-based directory file structures; use of a Unix-based editor (vi, tedi, emacs, elm, EDT, EVE, etc); and generic Unix operating system file locations; changing file mode and privileges; how to access, reference, and print Unix-based help on-line. 2 years experience with computer and network security, intrusion detection and network monitoring, OR 3 years of training course in: ( IDS) intrusion detection, intrusion prevention and network monitoring and Internet, and Domain name addressing; fundamental components of networks; and TCP/IP, FTP, and HTTP protocols. 3 yrs if (Windows NT/2000 ) based workstations, laptops and peripherals. Job Duties: Install, upgrade, and daily maintenance of hardware and software consisting of Unix-based and Windows-based operating systems, Intel-based workstations, computer printers, network switches/hubs, routers, firewalls, Cybex switches, ATM fiber, gigabit Ethernet, 100 BaseT and network operations, and other network and computer components and devices. Perform system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Install, move, add, change and troubleshoot non-UNIX (Windows NT/2000) based workstations, laptops and peripherals. This includes supporting both hardware and software activities. Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware and software. Essential Job Functions Performs moderately complex systems and database administration. Monitors and tunes appropriate systems to ensure optimum level of performance. Oversees appropriate level software installations and upgrades and related software packages. Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes. Analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems. Coordinates with appropriate management personnel in implementing changes. Supports the design and configuration of complex system landscapes. Supports complex data/media recoverability through system backups and database archive operations. Plans, coordinates and directs appropriate level data refresh strategies. Oversees, recommends and implements appropriate level database solutions and enhancements to ensure an improvement in system reliability and performance. Oversees and applies appropriate support packages/patches to maintain system integrity. Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current. Oversees the maintenance of a library of system-supporting process and procedure documentation. Interacts with client management to answer questions, problems and requests regarding complex system issues. Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
