Job Category:Systems Primary Location:USA-DC: DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA-BOLLING AFBSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Standard Employee Status:RegularJob Posting: 2008-08-22Description: TS/SCI SMS Infrastructure Manager Position Located in Bolling, AFB The successful candidate must have: Three (3) years work experience directly related to SMS infrastructure administration and user support Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), preferred Three (3) years work experience supporting a large installation of Microsoft Windows 2000/Windows 2003 servers Experience with MS SQL and Crystal Reports Experience scripting (prefer VBScript), creating and deploying VBS and SMS Installer scripts to automate system tasks Experience packaging and deploying applications via SMS and especially Softgrid/Softgrid sequencing Experience creating custom SMS queries to provide management with software deployments status, asset inventory (hardware and software), and software metering usage reports Experience with process flow for SMS software distribution and patch management Experience with SMS Operations System Deployment (OSD) Feature Pack, and Software Update Services (SUS) is a plus Job Description: Manage a SMS infrastructure that is comprised of approximately 15 servers and 20,000 clients Install, configure, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot Microsoft SMS/SCCM servers; provide support and assistance to the Technical Support teams Distribute SMS packages Authenticate mandatory/option software to all SMS servers Assist in supporting the agency's standard desktop hardware and software configuration Manage SMS related Web based applications and administration Evaluate software upgrades and patches, assist in developing software distribution packages, help define procedures and documentation for such packages, help gather and maintain hardware and software inventory and maintain the systems management software itself Provide quality assurance including monitor system operation, performance tuning, and logs in SMS/SCCM operation Work closely with the Technical support team in resolving various issues/problems with the inventory/software distribution process Develops procedures and documentation for inventory/software distribution process Evaluates new versions of systems management software for stability, reliability, performance and compatibility with the agency's existing environment Manage Automatic Update Service operations, including providing critical security patches and anti-virus configuration updates Packaging and deployment of apps via SMS and particularly Softgrid a key role. Essential Job Functions Coordinates with client management to formulate highly complex technical solutions. Identifies and implements solutions based on client needs. Informs client management of appropriate developments in technical support products. Provides technical leadership to internal and external personnel on highly complex system installation processes. Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced personnel. Provides technical leadership to appropriate personnel on highly complex system administration activities. Provides technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, highly complex technical issues. Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness of cost and compatibility. Oversees and implements system upgrade strategies. Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly complex solutions. Coordinates activities with other technical personnel as appropriate. Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Initiates reviews as appropriate. Conducts capacity planning reviews with management and approves capacity plans formulated by less experienced personnel. Develops strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application. Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required. Implements solutions and refines procedures as appropriate. Coordinates with business development personnel on proposals and work estimates involving highly complex system administration projects and solutions. Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures. Conducts usability and costing studies. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred Nine or more years of technical experience in a client-server environment Experience working with highly complex systems administration, database administration, and landscape maintenance Experience working with company products and services Experience working with company and client documentation and storage procedures Experience working with highly complex system implementations and organizational processes Other Qualifications Strong analytical and problem solving skills Good leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel Strong communication skills Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills Strong ability to lead and work as part of a team Remote Work Location Authorized:No Relocation Assistance:Not AvailableClearance Level:TS/SCI Create Success
