Systems Specialist- Two Positions Available

Con Edison Solutions is an energy solutions company that offers attractively priced and value oriented energy services as well as electricity to commercial, industrial and residential customers.  We seek an IT professional with a minimum of 2 years of experience with .net. In addition, strong knowledge of MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005 is also required. One position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of electric commodity support systems. The other position is responsible for working with internal business clients and end-users to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes, as well as translate system scope and objectives into specific system specifications and applications. The design and development position will work with NirvanaSoft billing package to make usage adjustments and calculate reconciliation charges for electric commodity billing and revenue tracking systems. In addition, this individual will be responsible for analyzing requirements, code and develop enterprise applications utilizing Microsoft based technologies, including VB6.0, VB.NET & SQL Server 2000. Testing, documentation and support of the systems will also be required, and work will be performed with the Tibco Integration Environment. Knowledge of Tibco Business Works is a plus, as is knowledge of application life cycle development, and the ability to demonstrate good project management skills.

The other position will support production systems via code change, and will debug and document complex programs with minimal direction. This individual will also work with development, operations, technical support, and other technical personnel as required throughout the development life cycle. In addition, this person will formulate and define system scope and objectives based on user needs and available development platforms, software, hardware, technologies, and tools. This System Specialist will research, evaluate, and recommend alternative solutions for business issues and efficient, cost-effective solutions for system design, taking into account existing systems, available technology, and limitations of existing equipment. In conjunction with these activities, it is expected that this professional will design detailed systems testing plans to ensure an effective, high quality product, and will prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. While there is no direct supervisory responsibility, various projects will require that the successful candidate demonstrate team leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required,  the ability to handle frequent business customer interaction, and knowledge of Java and other languages and tools are a plus.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or other relevant area of expertise.

Advanced degree is a plus.
