Position Description:

The Supply Base Manager (SBM) is responsible for all aspects of commodity management. The SBM develops and maintains supply base relationships and is accountable for managing supplier performance against Brocade’s business objectives. This includes management of all elements of cost, availability, development deliverables, contracts, and sourcing issues.The SBM is accountable for working with Development Engineering, Supply Base Engineering, NPI, Program Management, Account Management, and Marketing counterparts to establish and execute commodity strategy. The SBM must establish strong internal relationships with Brocade Engineering, Materials, NPI, Program Management, Marketing and Revenue Systems teams.The SBM is considered a commodity expert within the commodity team and should be familiar with processes and systems supporting Supplier Management, Product Development, Commodity teams, Cost Control, and Sustaining/Revenue support. The SBM should have a foundation in optic market dynamics and new market technology development and how it influences and impacts Brocade’s business needs. The SBM will be required to establish key relationships with VP and Director level managers internally at Brocade and with key suppliers.Must have the ability to travel domestically and overseas.Key Areas of ResponsibilitySupplier Management? Develop and Maintain key (Executive and other) relationships with Supply Base? Manage Supplier Performance - Drive Scorecard and Business Reviews? Monitor Supplier Financial HealthCommodity Team? Lead cross functional Commodity team? Lead development and execution of Commodity Strategy ? Coordinate Supplier Roadmap reviews with Commodity/Engineering team members? Establish and Maintain Preferred Supplier List and Commodity Sourcing Requirements? Interface with BU core teams to ensure optimized supplier solutions/roadmaps meet Brocade business needs? Key interface with CTO’s Technologists and Principal Engineers to ensure alignment with standard’s body work and technology developmentsCost Control? Establish and Achieve Annual Commodity cost takedown goals? Execute Benchmarking and Total Cost Analysis Activities to demonstrate best in class price positionNew Product Development? Early Engagement - drive alignment of Brocade and Supplier Technology requirements? Lead business portion of supplier visits/audits? Partner with SBE to ensure supplier site qualification/readiness for new technologiesSustaining/Revenue Support? Ensure production and tooling capacity are in line with Brocade business requirements? Support Supply/Demand Escalations to resolution? Drive Lead time reduction and optimize Supply Chain flexibility? Communicate Roadmap, Product Transition, and Commodity impacts to Supply BaseCapabilities and Competencies for Success? Experience in Optics Commodity Space? Qualifications:

? Minimum 8 years experience in Supply Base Management or Purchasing ? Experience directly with Optics Supply Base and Optics Market Space? Foundation in Optics design, Development and Manufacturing desirable? BS in Engineering or Business, MS or MBA preferred
