Staff Acountant

POSITION SUMMARY:The Staff Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform month-end close (run month end closing, print reports and close out period activity. Reconcile subsidiary ledgers and agree General Ledger accounts. Perform cash balancing activities of daily lock box posting and bank activity. Post GL journal entries for all areas Reconciliation of bank activity. Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations. Assist the CFO in the daily banking requirements. Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner. Supports budget and forecasting activities. Maintain Fixed Asset detail for capital assets and depreciation. Responds to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests. Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Serve as back-up to other financial department personnel. Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS REQUIRED: BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting Five to seven years in the financial reporting/general ledger area. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required. Ability to identify and articulate problems, propose alternative solutions, have factual backup for decisions and question prior decisions if the result do not materialize as previously projected. A continuous improvement mentality, with a capacity and energy to challenge the status quo and drive change throughout the organization. Highest level of integrity and honesty. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills required. Experience in information technology and professional services a plus.
