Sr. Wireless Network Engineer / ITEC2143

Position Description:

The Network Engineering department located in Walnut Creek, California, has an opening for a Sr. Wireless Network Engineer within its Network Engineering group. This position is highly technical and requires a thorough understanding of IT technical network infrastructure as well as business objectives and system requirements. The selected candidate will also help to ensure that the technical infrastructure will provide optimal manageability and security within the enterprise. This position will focus on wireless design, but is also a hands-on, customer facing position dealing with all aspects of wireless networking.Qualifications: •5+ years experience in data communications industry. Candidate should be at CWNE skill level.•Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience with designing, implementing and supporting large wireless infrastructures.• Solid working experience with 802.11a/b/g/i standards and knowledge of 802.11n.• Demonstrate working knowledge and/or proficiencies with Cisco networking and various network protocols. Working knowledge of MPLS VPN architecture, expert level knowledge of OSPF and BGP protocols, strong comprehension of LAN switching technologies, and able to incorporate secure practices and concepts into network design• Hands on engineering of networking solutions. The candidate should have the ability to operate network troubleshooting tools such as protocol and spectrum analyzers.• Able to interface with users and technical staff; team-player, strong organizational and conceptual skills, and ability to work independently• Ability to recognize customer requirements, assist customer in achieving their goals, and consistently achieve high customer satisfaction. Demonstration of the ability to manage customer expectations is necessary. • Strong comprehension of the OSI model. • Strong senior technology leadership and management skills, including strong facilitation and team building.• Demonstrated ability of strategic thinking.• Ability to work independently in dynamic environment along with the ability to lead others• Excellent organizational, project management, interpersonal, time management, written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills.• Proficient expert level TCP/IP knowledge a must. Knowledge of associated ports to the most common applications necessary. • The ability to provide detailed documentation is a must.
