Sr. Windows Architect/Engineer

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Considered an expert in the implementation and use of Microsoft Windows Platform solutions.

· Candidate must be a team player who is willing to seek and give technical advice across functional group boundaries and/or project teams and collaborate with peers and managers on technical or project issues.

· Ability to work, communicate and coordinate activities with both A&E, Project initiative teams, Service Delivery operations, Windows Platform product vendors and other CI responsible groups.

· Proven experience in customer communications and customer handling skills.

· Capable of working with minimal supervision.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

· MCSE (MCSE 2003 preferred) + 5 years of network design experience

· Demonstrated competency in MS Exchange design dependencies, Active Directory and DNS, networking technologies, storage technologies etc.

· 5 Years of Experience in Enterprise Computing Environments of 5,000+ Users.

· 5 Years of Architecture Experience in Windows NT, 2000 and 2003 and Exchange 2000/2003

· Enterprise level design/implementations (5000+, > 5 sites)

· Expert understanding of Windows 2K/2K3 domains, Microsoft Clustering, IIS, SQL, AntiVirus solutions, DNS, TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, server hardware, networking and SAN/NAS technologies, wireless, and securing windows-based architecture deployment

· Active Directory design experience (Organizational Units, DNS, etc.)

· Windows Desktop XP / Vista (bonus), Server 2003 OS build/updates and deployment knowledge

· Monitoring (WS2003 Production environment)

· Inventory and Trending (server centric)

· Knowledge of the technical aspects of hardware/software subject matter.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical resolution to the customers problems pertaining to Windows Platform and technologies

· Provide proactive recommendations to the customers for improving Windows Platform operations and/or effective use of related Windows based solutions to help maximize efficiencies and technology leverage

· Proven expertise and experience in problem analysis and troubleshooting and debugging.

· Act as a liaison for higher levels of technical support and manage technical escalation for Architecture & Engineering.

.Support partners in determining "root-cause" relative to problem incidents

· Facilitate "Vendor" problem escalation and "action-plan" remediation activities on behalf of business partners while keep all parties informed

· Maintain foundation architecture components through documented product roadmaps and facilitate license count reconciliation

.3rd Level Support Engineering Activities: Performs necessary Windows infrastructure maintenance in accordance with SD Windows Operations change management policies

· Document Windows Security (Desktop and Server) standards creation & maintenance

· Participates in the execution of the business continuance and disaster recovery plans as agreed upon by System Architecture and Engineering and Service Delivery Windows operations.

· Develop and cultivate strong customer relationships and partnerships

· Adhere to proper company's Escalation and Change Control procedures.

· Provide technical leadership during the implementation of a Active Directory and/or related Windows solution implementation and/or related project initiative

· Proactively alert Project Manager and A&E team of potential problems based upon strong working knowledge of software/hardware compatibility within the company's Windows Platform environment.

· Develop and cultivate strong customer relationships and partnerships

The purpose of Strategic Architecure & Engineering group is to be the focal point for foundational architecture planning, solutions, technology guidance and vendor partnerships for the enterprise. Specializing in foundation architectures such as; Systems Platforms (Windows, Unix & Mainframe), Enterprise Systems Management (ESM), Identity Management (Authentication & Directory Services), Internet Infrastructure Services (iNet), Integration & Delivery (Webpshere & SUN), and Storage. In collaboration with all areas of CID, we provide domain expertise to develop solutions to meet business requirements, champion strategic technology adoption with operational readiness in mind

The vision is that SMA&E will provide technology platform foundations and capabilities (Infrastructure Services) that can be leveraged and used by enterprise applications and constituents. Middleware will be delivered as a stable and manageable platform. When existing middleware will not fit a solution we will research and provide an alternative approach.

SA&E improves internal communications by providing a common language for describing how technology can support business initiatives. The intent is to aid our CID partners link business and strategic priorities by creating road maps for decision making about technology initiatives.

SA&E will provide services to research, architect, design, engineer and implement foundation architecture solutions and related components using the SA&E Architecture Framework, in alignment with business objectives . Additionally, we will provide "Reference Architectures" with functional capabilities to ensure proper strategic planning and technology "sunset" and/or optimization opportunities. SA&E will provide 3rd Level support for all foundational products and solutions that we have designed or engineered.
