Job Category:Systems Primary Location:USA-SC: SOUTH CAROLINA-BLYTHEWOODSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Standard Employee Status:RegularJob Posting: 2008-08-26Description: UNIX Technical Account Lead for Solaris / Linux R&M Team GPES UNIX Engineering organization supports UNIX systems located primarily at the Newark Data Center. The Production Engineering team's highest priority is placed on keeping the systems operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to enable our clients to meet their objectives. The system engineers work closely together as a team to manage the numerous systems, as well as partner frequently with colleagues from other support and technology organizations. Therefore, interpersonal skills in areas such as collaboration, flexibility and communication are as vital as technical ability. This position also requires a great deal of interface with the ETS client and CSC Management supporting this outsourcing account in Princeton, NJ (USA). Specific tasks include: * Unix Hardware/software installation and upgrades * Problem tracking, management and resolution * Security Focus/Management * Server Performance Management * Capacity monitoring * Policy, practice and procedure implementation * DR Planning and execution * Essential Knowledge: * At least 6 years of experience in SUN SOLARIS and Red Hat Linux systems management and support. In addition to actual system management, ability to work with other support groups such as helpdesk personnel, application/database groups and networking groups to resolve technical problems. * Strong technical aptitude as demonstrated in the ability to quickly learn and apply new technical knowledge and skills * Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills * Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a cohesive team environment. Must communicate well verbally and in writing, be flexible and be able to foster a collaborative mind-set. * Ability to multi task in an interrupt driven environment. * Initiative, self-management and organizational skills are necessary to perform effectively. Essential Education: * Bachelor of Science in related discipline or equivalent work experience. Essential Skills: * SUN SOLARIS operating system knowledge for Solaris 6 and above RED HAT Linux system knowledge* Familiarity with Unix Administration tools * Patching and system recovery * Demonstrate Strong Knowledge of Volume Manager * SAN Technology experience * Strong knowledge of Veritas Cluster Server * Working Knowledge of Sun Cluster * DNS Additional Skills preferred: * Disaster Recovery experience Organizational "Fit" Considerations: * After hours and weekend work will be required including being on 24 hour pager on-call rotation * There is some flexibility in work hours but hours are primarily daytime hours.
