Sr. Electronic Document Management (EDM) Project Manager

Celebrating six decades of Making Cancer History, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is located in Houston on the sprawling campus of the Texas Medical Center. The Senior IT Project Manager, acting as the agent for the project sponsor, manages one or more medium to large cross-functional project teams responsible for one or more highly complex, risky, strategic information technology (IT) projects that span three or more organizational boundaries. Responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing multiple medium and/or large information technology (IT) projects that address the operational needs of multiple departments in order to deliver specified requirements, meet customer satisfaction, on time, within budget, and with quality results. The position ensures appropriate management, customer, and supplier involvement throughout the life of the project. The role provides supervision and mentorship to project team members, project managers, and associate project managers.

The Senior IT Project Manager independently manages the resources, human or otherwise, necessary to accomplish the approved information technology project strategy on behalf of the project sponsor and customer. When groups of related projects are organized into a program, responsible for managing multiple project managers or associate project managers whose projects provide specific deliverables all of which must be managed in order to provide the desired programmatic results.

In carrying out functions and responsibilities, the Senior IT Project Manager is administratively responsible to their director or manager and is accountable to the project sponsor and project steering team for completing the project on schedule, within budget, and the agreed upon scope and quality. EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, software engineering, management information systems, healthcare, or related field. Formal education from Project Management Institute certified provider in project management methodology and processes.

Preferred: Masters degree (business administration, information systems management, healthcare, or related field).

EXPERIENCE

Required: Ten years of experience, to include five years in project management and five years in application and/or infrastructure services.

Preferred: Experience creating and maintaining project deliverables, schedules, budgets and completing projects on time, within budget, and with agreed upon functionality. Experience leading teams in a matrix-reporting environment. Experience with Documentum and/or Captiva implementation projects. Technical experience as a software developer, software architect, systems implementer, or systems administrator preferred. Experience with SDLC methodologies as well as structured systems analysis and design. Experience using formal project management methodology, techniques and tools. Experience in healthcare.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Required: Project Management Institute (PMI) certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
