The Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) Chief Architect supports the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in the operations and maintenance of the Space Network (SN), Ground Network (GN), and Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS).   SCNS Chief Architect – Greenbelt, MD Job Code: GCSD07081015 Job Description: Responsible for the management of the Chief Architect Office consisting of the Chief Architect, Chief Technologist, and Networks Consultant Assists the NASA Exploration and Communications Projects Division with long-range architectural definition for modernization and replacement of the Space Network (SN) and the Ground Network (GN) system. Directs the SCNS in the planning, analysis, and definition of upgrades to the GN and SN Represents SCNS in engineering and systems architecture studies and forums. Maintains a knowledge base of the state-of-the-art in technologies associated with the SN and GN. Qualifications: BS degree in engineering field such as EE, ME, Computer Science, etc. Minimum of 15 years experience with operational space, space-ground, and ground network communication systems.    Preferred Additional Skills: Masters degree is a plus. Excellent leadership, management, communications, PC and customer interfacing skills are required. Ability to work independently and with a diverse group that includes government customers, contractors and senior management.
