Software Development Manager
This position is responsible for developing and managing the process of software development. The incumbent will partner with all levels of the organization to ensure processes and systems meet or exceed specific customer and Company standards. Essential Functions:35% Manages the software development following criteria to meet specific customer and Company goals and standards. Performs analysis, designs, develops and presents recommendations to management. 30% Motivates, hires, trains and coaches employees to meet performance standards. Conducts performance evaluations and establishes expectations, providing timely feedback to employees. 20% Communicates and implements procedures, changes and tools to improve the documentation of software development processes, including requirements, project and configuration management. 15% Ensures team members are aware of company and customer processes and requirements. Manages the training of team members. Monitors processes for consistency and compliance. Serves as a resource to research and resolve issues. 5% Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Additional Comments:Skill Sets and responsibilities: Staff Management - Magement and mentoring of technical and analytical staff; Development, tracking and monitoring of performance objectives in relation to corporate objectives Project & Task Management - Management, tracking and oversight of all technical tasks and deliverables; Collaboration and coordination with, project managers, technical leads and managers from other departments, vendors and contractors Client & Contract Mangement - Collaboration with clients and management to ensure all tasks and deliverables are accurately represented and accounted for. Management of client expectations and relationships Resource & Budget Allocations - Development of team resourcing plan to manage staff and budget allocations; Collaboration with senior and executive management staff to ensure proper allocations of staff across contracts and projects; Monitoring of contract funding and expenditures. Staff Orientiation & Training - Development and maintenance of orientation, communication, training & career growth plans and matrices. Contract and RFP Response - Collaboration with senior and executive management to plan request for proposal responses and development and writing of techincal sections. Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) experience preferred. Four year degree in Computer Science or Business or related field and/or equivalent training and/or experience; 7 – 10 years experience in leading and managing software lifecycle design or development; 5 years experience managing a technical and/or professional team; specific technical experience as indicated in the project(s) and/or contract(s). 15% - 20% local and overnight travel.
