Server Engineer

TechTeam Government Solutions is a leading IT solutions company that provides IT infrastructure support, information assurance, managed services, and applications services support to federal, state, and local governments.

We are currently seeking a Server Engineer to join our team supporting our Federal Government customer in Montgomery County.Job Description

The employee will work on a team of four engineers and a project manager and have the following responsibilities: Install, administer, and troubleshoot server applications, including but not limited to OpenText LiveLink, Windows SharePoint Services, Rational Suite, SQL, and IIS. Essential aspects of this position are problem identification and recording, classification, investigation and diagnosis, and root cause analysis. Assist with backup and recovery of servers using Veritas Backup Exec and the HP Library and Tape system. Project development, deployment, and system integration activities. Work independently, reporting to the Project Manager and under the direction of the Team Lead. May be assigned other projects and responsibilities based on capability. Work closely with security personnel to ensure security policies are implemented properly. Build/manage Windows servers. Troubleshoot server, database, and application-related problems. Perform upgrades, installations, and required maintenance during maintenance weekends (monthly). Assist in all operations, systems development, deployment and troubleshooting activities. Write systems configuration management documentation (to include but not limited to: Server Request Forms, Systems Change Requests, and Change Proposals).

Required Skills: This position requries 5-7 years of experience in an IT environment. Microsoft Clustering, DFS, Active Directory, Windows Server 2003, SQL 2000/2005, Microsoft IIS server, HP Servers and SAN Experience. Ability to troubleshoot network issues (DNS, DHCP, etc.). Must have excellent technical writing skills. Must be detail-oriented.
