Senior Technical Architect (.Net)

Supervises:

There are no supervisory requirements from an administrative perspective.  However, a Senior Technical Architect does have mentoring responsibility for .NET developers and DBAs.  These individuals are deployed to projects in a matrixed organization structure, at which time they report directly to Project Managers for all project administrative issues.

 

Basic Function

 

A Senior Technical Architect is responsible for the overall .NET technical solutions delivered to Infinite clients.  The position is responsible for the design, development and overall soundness of the technical solutions that are delivered to Infinite customers.  As a Senior member of staff, the position is also responsible for the establishment and oversight of the .NET development capabilities of the organization’s .NET developers and center of excellence.  This includes the development of departmental technical standards, policies, procedures and continuous improvement efforts.

 

 

Essential Duties and responsibilitiesDefines the vision of how the technical solutions will be implemented for client projects and ensures the integrity of the vision is maintained throughout the project’s development lifecycle.  Communicates and presents technical solutions to Infinite clients in early phases of projects or in responses to project proposals.Participates in the elicitation of requirements as appropriate. Reviews requirements for understandability, completeness and feasibility from a technical perspective. Translates requirements into the required technical solution by defining and documenting the high-level logical components and overall technical solution characteristics in functional specifications and high-level designs.Drives the completion of low-level detailed designs and specifications and oversees the output of developers involved in design activities.  Coordinates and conducts design reviews, and documents the results and tracks all issues to closure.Works with the Project Managers to validate the development approach and assumptions that underlie the project plan and work plan. Develops and reviews the project’s estimates and assumptions.  Provides details regarding planning/development tasks and required skills for the development team.Ensures the quality and integrity of all designs, including the adherence to standards, project technical requirements and .NET best practices.  Identifies technical risks related to the design and drives the mitigation of those risks.Defines the development and production environments for the project and then works with Infinite personnel as well as client stakeholders in establishing or modifying those environments as necessary.Drives code reviews and approves unit test plans and results. Drives detailed test planning for Integration and System testing.Provides oversight and supervision of the development activities of onsite and offshore development resources. Provides ongoing architectural support and trouble-shooting over the course of the entire project.Establishes the configuration management approach for the project and ensure it is followed.  Authorizes the migration of code and other components per the project’s configuration management approach.Evaluates reported defects and oversees the correction of prioritized defects.  Provides sign-off on final System/Integration testing from a technical perspective.Drives release and deployment activities, and verifies that application documentation reflects the final deployed application.Assists Infinite Project division management with the establishment and oversight of the .NET development capabilities of the organization’s .NET developers and center of excellence.  Facilitates knowledge-sharing and the development of a sense of community within the .NET technical delivery staff.Drives the development of departmental technical standards, policies and procedures.  Drives continuous improvement of the architecture, design and testing practices of the Project Delivery division.  Advocates the use of best practices on projects, and coaches developers in their use.Monitory industry trends related to .NET development and Microsoft development tools in general to keep abreast of new technologies and changes that may benefit Infinite clients and the Project Delivery division.
