Senior Systems Programmer

The Senior Systems Programmer is responsible for the administration and configuration of various production monitoring tools, including HP's Openview for Operations (OVO). You will be responsible for ensuring the tools are running properly to allow our Operations team to receive and respond to alerts from these systems. Responsibilities will include trouble shooting of problems, application and testing of vendor patches, application and testing of new releases and the investigation, design and implementation of new features for the GXS environment. Training of the users of these tools will also be needed on an occasional basis. This position will be a key contact point with the Ohio Operations team and will work with them to gather requirements and implement solutions. In addition, you will work with the Engineering teams to assist them in developing application level monitoring as they develop their applications. You will provide guidance on best practices, company standards, and use of the monitoring tools.

Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree or equivalent. 8+ years experience in an operations or engineering department. 4 years of experience using and administration of a production monitoring and support tool, such as HP Openview for Operations. Experience in a commercial operations environment, supporting complex applications. Good communication skills both oral and written. Detail oriented. Proactive and innovative with the ability to adapt rapidly to change in a fast paced environment. Strong Open Systems skills (Linux, HP-UX, Sun). Windows 2000, 2003 knowledge. Strong IP Network knowledge and skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours on occasion. Ability to handle and prioritize workloads and work effectively in a time critical environment. Ability to work independently and with a geographically dispersed team. Process oriented with good trouble-shooting / analysis skills. Familiarity and experience with ITIL and its processes, especially Incident, Problem, Change and Event Management. Programming skills in Perl and shell scripting. Hands-on technical software/tools development experience in a data center environment. Use and administration of HP tools such as Business Technology Optimization Suite (BTO), Service Center, SiteScope. Technical expertise with GXS platforms, products and/or services. ITIL Certification. Programming skills in Java, C.
