Senior Systems Engineer

 

Description:

 

SMPL Technologies Inc., a Long Island based systems integrator that specializes in VOIP, Cisco Systems Infrastructure and Microsoft Networks, is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a full time position.

 

This individual’s primary responsibility will be to work as a team member on medium-sized complex technical projects under the direction and supervision of senior staff and management.  The emphasis of much of the work will be on troubleshooting, preventing, and correcting outages, implementing new systems, upgrading existing systems, and maintaining our outstanding customer relationships. This position requires that the employee is both willing and able to travel to different locations around the Metro New York and Long Island area.

 

Qualifications:

 

Basic Knowledge and Personal Skills

 Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or four years of information systems experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Strong knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN) in a Cisco environment. PC and desktop applications competency (e.g., Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc.) In-depth knowledge of information systems concepts. Working knowledge of applicable methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow directions. Good project management skills. Strong organizational and problem solving abilities. Technical aptitude, including ability to understand detailed technical information. Strong leadership ability.  Applicant should only need close supervision on new tasks.

 

Network Infrastructure Knowledge Requirements

 Experience building and upgrading Cisco Networks. Knowledge of Routing Protocols and QOS. Experience in coordinating and turning-up of WAN links and telecom circuits.  Installation of new network hardware, including but not limited to the implementation of VLANs, Firewall Policies, IP Address Schemas. Experience with network management and support tools. Applicant should be familiar with Voice Over Data networking (VoFR, VoATM, VoIP), dial-peer configuration, packet fragmentation, DSP configuration, and E1/T1 technologies. Cisco Certifications preferred and rewarded.  Applicant must be able to pass Cisco Career Certification Exams.

 

Network Operating System Knowledge RequirementsExperience leveraging Microsoft Terminal Server . Expertise Designing, Planning, Implementing and Managing Windows NT, 2000, and/or Windows 2003 Domains. Active Directory Design. Enterprise Messaging and Administrative Experience using Exchange 2003 /2007. Understanding of and experience supporting Microsoft SQL. Experience deploying and managing security patch management systems. Backup & Disaster Recovery. Experience using Veritas Backup Technologies. Experience in configuring, and administering Windows XP workstations in a Windows 2003 environment Using GPO. Experience supporting printers, scanners, and PDA devices
