Senior Programmer Analyst
Job Summary
This Senior Programmer Analyst is be responsible for supporting our retail systems, Island Pacific (IP) from project inception, project implementation and post implementation follow up and support. They will handle off hours support of IP modules and customization of IP systems.
Job Duties
RPG Programmer/Analyst will be responsible for development and system support activities using RPG. These duties will included and require: Understanding full SDLC (software development life cycle – Analysis, Design, Development, Coding, Programming, Testing, Documentation, Implementation or Installation); Working with End Users and Business Analysts to collect, analyze, evaluate and examine business requirements documents; Examine requirements documents and create technical design documents (flowcharts, database schemas); Create and execute test plans, implementation plans and user guides. Provide production support for assigned systems
Roles and responsibilities
The individual must be able to adapt to a fast paced environment for small to complex projects, work on several projects simultaneously, adhere to project dead lines, communicate clearly and precisely with end users, other developers, and management in both verbal and written format; conform to IT Development Standards, perform critical thinking in evaluating software specifications and make suggestions for improvement, possess a strong analytical ability, function as a team player, troubleshoot problems, work and communicate under the moderate to minimal supervision . The candidate should also possess project management and organizational skills while have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio is desirable.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience on AS/400 RPGIV, RPG ILE. CL, DDS, OS400, SQL, Query 400, OPNQRYF, Multi-membered files, DBU, SDA, i-Series Data Transfer, AS400-ODBC connectivity utilizing Excel or Access
- VB programming experience
- Knowledge of SQL and some experience on embedded SQL
- Experience in retail companies would be a plus, but is not required
- Experience on Island Pacific would be a plus, but is not required
