Senior Oracle DBA

Oracle DBA with Oracle 9i and 10g hands-on experience with DDL, database creation, monitoring and exposure to backups for maintaining databases and Shell Scripts. 5+ years supporting medium to large scale production environments. Candidate must be willing to learn new database platforms including SQL Server and UDB or have previously supported SQL Server and UDB.

Required Skills:

· The Oracle DBA will resolve problems and answer questions related to Oracle databases, connectivity, availability, and 3rd party vendor products when necessary. Assist with application development issues and client problem resolution.

·  The Oracle DBA will also monitor Alert logs to identify critical problems; ensure the databases are available and running efficiently.

· Oracle Export & Import utilities to refresh data; document correct backup schedules and strategies; assist in the development of recovery procedures; assist in recovery from loss data caused by application, user or system error.

· Oracle DBA should be a self-motivated individual with the aptitude for troubleshooting, testing and resolution of technical issues to the satisfaction of the clients.

Daily Responsibilities:

· Database Security Administration (Add/Modify/Remove permissions to/from ROLES)

· Database Change Management (create/alter/drop database objects in all database environments) to support applications and project service levels.

· Database Availability (provide proactive monitoring, corrective actions, fix on fail actions to database objects).

· Instance Management, Space Management & Capacity Planning

· Apply Oracle patches to the databases

· Database Backup/Recovery (provide services to establish, configure, adjust, test and perform database backups and recovery of databases).

· Database Testing Support (database refreshes, performance analysis and tuning).

· Provide off-hour/weekend and on-call database administration services as necessary to meet service levels.

· Assist application and project teams with application and database troubleshooting and problem resolution.

· Develop and review production deployment implementation plans in compliance with IT production control requirements.

· Provide consulting assistance to IT customers regarding the development of applications using in-scope databases.

· Core business hours will be determined and communicated.

· Occasional overtime may be required.

· Pager on-call responsibilities will be required.

 

 

Education:

 

· Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university. (Computer Science or Information Technology

 

· Any combination of education and experience (see experience below) equal to education period above. (i.e., 2 years college and 2 years of a specific experience)

 

Experience:

· Minimum of five (5) years supporting medium to large scale production environments. Oracle DBA with Oracle 9i and 10g hands-on experience with DDL, database creation, monitoring and exposure to backups for maintaining databases and Shell Scripts.
