The Innovation Team at Color Kinetics offer an interdisciplinary approach to product development from concept, to market research, to prototypes and testing, the Innovation Team provides a remarkable group of developers to extend our technologies into new products, markets and applications. Your Responsibilities: JOB FUNCTION / PURPOSE The Senior Lighting Market Manager is responsible for identifying market opportunities and applications for LED illumination within Philips Color Kinetics. This includes using this information to develop product concepts targeting these opportunities. Working within the Innovation Team, you will be a key driver of new product ideas and oversee concept activities and engage with the lighting community regarding new product ideas. Doing this means determining market requirements, creating renderings, generating baseline market requirements, and working with the engineering team to develop illustrative prototypes. You will also work closely with product marketing and other members of the product planning team to integrate new concepts into our product roadmap. A key element of this role is working with executive management to optimize product strategy across key markets.The Senior Lighting Market Manager works closely with the Innovation, Product Marketing and Sales teams to create concepts. Your role requires close interaction with customers to derive new products concepts and application opportunities. Customers include lighting & interior designers, architects, specifiers, and contractors. You must demonstrate creative capabilities to build new concepts using technology platforms using your experience regarding trends and opportunities in the marketplace. Beyond creating tangible product concepts, developments could include topics such as simplifying our systems and control or determining existing product changes to take advantage of new channel opportunities. With customers input, this position is a principal driver behind the creation of innovative products and product directions. The practice of design strategy is a synthesis of user, technical and business factors for continuous innovation. We require that you have both creative and analytical skills including a strong aesthetic sense and conceptual thinking ability. You will need to find a path from problem finding to problem solving in new product development; this is the highest profile area of our business.PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES / OBJECTIVESCreate a market driven product management organization:* Work closely with Market Research to determine new product needs and market strategy for product line* Provide input on product ideas and needs from influential recognized industry leaders * Collect and disseminate end-user feedback* Create product concepts in renderings and clearly defined product specifications* Interact with customers to solicit input on next years product plansProvide support for sales team, customers and trade shows* Inform and train the sales force through bulletins, e-mail and phone to get feedback from customers, sales and on competitors.* Establish relationships and credibility with key customers* Continue the relationships and commitments with sales to the customer* Provide design support for Marketing on trade shows to best highlight and demonstrate our new products in their intended applicationsDevelop product line strategies that support corporate goals* Identify new product and market opportunities includingo Growth/replacement of installed systemso Moving existing products into new accountso Moving new products into exisexisting accountso Identifying new products and new accounts* Create innovative concepts and prototypes* Verify new product fit with overall product and corporate strategies* Work with Innovation team, product marketing, (& the product planning team overall) to create continual month product roadmap * Assist on a variety of designs surrounding CK showrooms and selected installations. Act as North American SSL Liaison for Philips LIDAC*Work with Eindhoven-based lighting design group to explore new concepts, new applications for LED Illumination; leverage facility for testing and mock-ups *Provide thought leadership" on high profile Your Profile: The Senior Lighting Marketing Manager requires a broad view of design - encompassing product, service, and communication - and especially a systems approach to extract user perspectives and insights. The position also calls for finding opportunities and expressing compelling solutions. You will draw insights from users and cultural trends, creating and expressing solutions and communicating these to inform executive decision-making. You will also speak to customer, local groups and other industry venues as well as media outreach support. It also includes advising internal marketing group on such matters as trade shows and collateral materials.For this role, you must have significant practical experience in the development and design of lighting products, systems and installations. Experience and knowledge in developing strategic product roadmaps based on new technology architectures and platforms is desired. Significant experience in lighting design and architecture required as well as strong relationships in the design community. Evidence of active participation in these areas is desired.You must possess the ability to communicate, negotiate and persuade at all management levels. You must be knowledgeable in the company's business practices and direction as well as familiar with the company's products and services and have demonstrated an on going commitment to maintain current with changing industry trends and breakthroughs.Minimum Requirements- BA/BS degree in engineering, design, architecture, business, marketing or related focus10-15 years experience in lighting and architectural design and design related fields.- Excellent Design skills- Good analytical skills- Excellent oral and written communication skills- Experience in Professional Lighting or the Construction industry- Proficient in use of major PC office applications - Must be able to work in a fast moving, high-pressure environment.Desired requirements- Strong design experience in lighting including product development and product communications- Experience in fast paced project management of multiple products and product linesPROBLEM SOLVINGThe right person for this position must be comfortable with leading the challenge of integrating a new lighting technology into commercially-viable, differentiated, customer-focused products.
