Senior Level 2 Cisco Network Engineer / CCNP

Job Description

 

Location: Forth worth, TX

Duration: fulltime/perm

 

Responsibilities

· Oversee overall integration of the local and wide area network, including the design, development, testing and implementation for the field and corporate

· Responsible for EIGRP, OSPF and BGP routing protocols as well as traffic shaping and packet prioritization

· Identify and resolve high-level network issues including complex routing issues in a mixed protocol environment

· Monitor and track network performance to determine problem areas and proactively develop solutions

· Harden and monitor network security and take proactive measures to protect against new threats

· Create and update network drawings, standards and procedures

· Evaluate current and future technologies for enterprise implementations

· Interface with vendors during product evaluations

· Participate in strategic planning sessions and make recommendations to management

· Develop scalable network designs, solutions, policies and recommendations by working with the entire team of network analysts, engineers and architects

· Identify, research, evaluate and recommend network related tools and emerging network technologies

· Participate in rotating “on call� schedule with other members of the team

· Provide third-tier support

 

Requirements:


• Cisco CCNP certification
• Must have 5 to 7 years of experience in Network Engineering in either a medium sized commercial network or large enterprise.
• Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously
. • Facilitation and change management methodology.
• Design experience with LAN/WAN.
• MUST have a solid understanding of IP routing, switching and routing protocols.
• Practical BGP experience
• Knowledge of Cisco (Firewalls, Layer 2/3 LAN Switches, Routers and VPNs)
• Videoconferencing experiences a plus.
• Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Experience in a service provider network a plus.
