SENIOR JAVA SWING – Perm

 

Location:  Chicago, IL.

 

Searching for a senior-level Java Swing developer to come into the team and 'hit the ground running'.  The successful candidate needs to be able to work in a fast paced and pressurized environment.  The team is small, and as such needs a personable and mature individual to contribute to the effective running of this highly skilled team.  The developer will be responsible for specification, design, and development of client-side components within the financial system as well as providing senior direction through mentoring and peer reviews.

 

Position Description:

The Operations IT team develops and maintains a suite of applications that comprise a Collateral Management and Reporting system.  The system is used for the calculation of margin of OTC Derivative, Repo, Financing and FX products.  It is a cross-product system that assimilates data from across the bank, representing over half of the banks traded products.  Members of this team work closely with Global Collateral Management, as well as traders from all business areas, trade support and business development analysts to provide global solutions for varied business requirements. The system is the basis of the next-generation margin management system.

 

Requirements:

· 5+ developing software utilizing Java, with at least two full years developing Swing-based GUI software.

· Experience developing stand-alone client applications in Java using Swing and RMI

· A solid understanding of the basics of GUI design and the Model-View-Controller (MVC) framework

· Experience with software development processes & lifecycles

· Experience in performing and receiving peer reviews of source code

· Solid Object-Oriented analysis and design techniques

· Degree in Computer Science or related discipline

 

Nice to Have:

· Prior experience developing software using Eclipse and ClearCase

· Good communication skills are required to interface with IT peers in all streams

· Experience working with offshore team members

· Experience working in a traditional, non-agile development environment

· Financial/economic knowledge

· Exposure to project planning concepts and tools
